More than two decades ago, when former Wall Street portfolio analyst Judith H. McQuown first sat down to write the inaugural edition of Inc. Yourself, the incorporation of a small company was a fairly simple procedure undertaken by relatively few refugees from the then-burgeioning safe haven of big-time corporate America. But while the appeal and the underlying need for striking out on one's own have increased markedly in the interim, the continual passage of major tax-law changes had ensured that incorporation is no longer such an uncomplicated process. Accordingly, in her best-selling primer, McQuown outlines the core information necessary to turn any enterprise into a separate legal entity replete with all the rights, privileges, and liabilities that such a move entails. But she also updates those suggestions for today's small businesses whenever appropriate, and bolsters them with important details on newly available options for pension plans, organizing the venture, and sheltering its income from taxation.
A former Wall Street analyst and New York City Senior Investment Analyst, Judith McQuown became exasperated by the glass ceiling women faced and formed Judith H. McQuown & Co., Inc. Her business provides writing and editorial services to the financial and publishing industries. She is the author of eight other books and conducts Inc. Yourself seminars nationwide. Alyson Scadron Branner currently hangs her rain boots in Seattle. She is an active voiceover and theatre artist up and down the West Coast, as well as in Toronto.

Inc Yourself (Audible Audio Edition) Judith McQuown Alyson Scadron Branner Inc Listen Live Audio Books Reviews
I first got this book from the library and instantly realized that every small business owner should own this book. Not only is great, in providing the step by step instructions on how to start a corporation, but also I'm sure it will be great to refresh on tax savings every couple of years. I'm an independent contractor as a sales rep, and I have already recommended it to many of my sales rep associates.
Kinda basic but not bad
I don't read many books, but I really enjoyed this one on being profitable by starting up your own corporation. It is basic and leaves many questions to be answered, but it is enough to plead the case for incorporating.
A gift. I have an earlier edition
Excellent for starting your on business or just wanting to know if some of the things you needn to do. Pricing was very good.
I bought this book with the hopes of getting a good step by step introduction as to how to start my own Inc. business. Turns out the author's presentation was way out of my league and was geared toward people who already have an established business. This book is mostly about the tax benefits a a established business would get if it Incorporated itself....This isnt a "How To-Getting Started" Book for people wanting to start their own business for the first time. Also, too many figures and too many numbers, and the language used was very complex...the type of language people would get their lawyers to interpret for them.
However, I did get something out of this book, and that is to start a corporation, the pros and cons of each type of corporation, and the do's and don'ts. It's not a How to do...so I would recommend reading a book on HOW to start your own business, and then once you know how to, then read Inc. Yourself.
Overall, it was worth the read.
I would call this one of the better books on the subject, but make sure you read others. There are some statements in this book that are just wrong, and it's up to you to get the facts from an authoritative source. Everything I've read says "consult an accountant". Even the Nolo Press publications say this. Figure out how to incorporate by yourself, then bring your forms to an accountant as a final step. If you're starting a business, you want to do it right, and an accountant will fill you in on all the extra benefits of incorporation that aren't obvious in books like these. Disclaimer I am not an accountant! As another poster says, this book includes examples of all the forms, and if this is of interest then get it. But you'll flip through pages and pages of IRS forms while reading this book.
