What a great story this is. An obsessive character whose world starts to crumble, her mind bending reality to its liking, hurting those who get in the way. Her realty starts to slip, and only one peron knows the truth but she can barely speak and is tortured, to a degree, by the evils of Ivy. Soon enough, old ghosts come back to haunt and the more dire things seem, the more she goes full titlt psycho.

It's one of those stories where you may have empathy for the main character but (yeah I'll say it) you are rooting for her sanity to slip a little further and the straps on her soul strings to get more and more untied, for it's intriquing to watch.

A la the show Breaking Bad, you are shown a scene from the ending in the beginning, but are still somehow given a unique twist that you didn't see coming at the finish. At least not like that.

While I believe writers can effectively create a character of the opposing gender, there was something about this story that I have to believe only a woman can write. I could tell the author was having fun writing this. It came shining through.

Just finished it last night and I cant wait for book 2! It was thrilling and a book that sucked you in right away. It also had a great twist that I didn't see coming ( and I always do) so that made me extremely happy. Its a quick and entertaining read and at 2.99 you really cant go wrong.
First thing I wanted to do after reading this book was to talk to someone about it but I did not want to spoil the ending. I'm very impressed with the way Ms. Figueroa paces the action and the characters leap from the page with realism. I'm looking forward to the next book in this story.
Latashia's debut novel is a scorcher, filled primarily by an evil character that you just can't fathom exists, yet here she is, plotting and destroying the lives of those who cross her. But there's always a twist with writers who have a command of story and Ms. Figueroa demonstrates this with IVY'S ENVY. I literally couldn't stop reading until the very last bloody moment. I knew Ms. Figueroa is a force on the scene after reading her horror short collection, THIS WAY DARKNESS. So it's no surprise to me that this novel got under my skin. This is a high recommend and I literally can hardly wait for what I hope to be a longer yet just as satisfying follow up.
love this book though it's a little short. I read it all in just under an hour. I only meant to read it for 10 or 15 mins but I couldn't put it down until the end, so it deserves five stars just for that... plus the story itself was interesting, different and edgy.

The first chapter is a misnomer as it reads more like a prologue and I felt it went on for a bit too long (I was already hooked and wanted to get on with the story) but the rest of it was perfect. Very succinct and fast paced.

I would put this book in the same genre/target readership as those who like Jeff Lindsay's 'Dexter' book series, but I found Dexter lost its momentum a little too often while 'Ivy's Envy' keeps up the pace. I'm interested to see what the second book will bring
Can you say "Fatal Attraction" & "Obsessed" meets "Ivy's Envy?"

The character Ivy James in this book displays a desperate intensity and fervor of infatuation, at times proven to be deadly. In a psychotic way Ivy thinks she can have anything or anybody she wants. Ivy was definitely stupefied by her many ways throughout the story, but I enjoyed every moment of it! ) Latashia has out done herself once again, giving us (the reader) more like we knew she would, in a thrilling not wanting to sleep until we finished this story type of way. To sum up Ivy's Envy (Want & Decay Book 1), it's a roller coaster ride full of lust, deceit, torture and jealousy that sucks you right in without warning. Not many new writers can keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end and then blow your mind with an unexpected finish; literally have you feening for more. Like other comments/reviews this book is for you especially if you like suspense, psychological thrillers, and the dark side with a few unexpected twists along the way!

In my personal opinion I could definitely see Ivy's Envy as a Lifetime Movie, a true modern day Fatal Attraction, coming soon!

If you like roller coasters, Ivy's Envy is the book for you. You think you figured out where it is going. Think again. You think "oh, OK, so this is this kind of book, I know what it's about." Sorry, guess again. Not even Sherlock Holmes would have figured this out. Actually, not Mr. Holmes, this is not that kind of book. I can't say much more about the plot because it would spoil the story. I can say it's about obsession. And love. And, no surprise here, envy. The ending was just so unexpected I nearly gasped. The dialogs are so well crafted that you can hear all the voices in your head. It is a very quick read. Don't read the blurbs, the less you know, the better. Just read this novella. Now. You won't regret it.
