Inside these amazing flights of suspense are lovely seamlessly well written mysteries, are powerful and wise words explaining how she develops her gift. In this novel, at 12% on my Kindle Fire lies the most meaningful marriage advice I have ever read. Read the books for fun, cunning plot twists and out of Eather life advice. Sense of Deception Psychic Eye Mystery Victoria Laurie Books Reviews
I have to day this book is probably the best one yet. Abby is so much more than she has ever been. She is grown up, and she beloved in herself. I have read all of Abby's adventures, some less believible than other. This one rings true on every count. Abby is front and center following leads and figuring out the mystery and most of it is not from her physic insight, but from logical deduction. But when she brings out the big guns (her insight) she is right on the mark. LOVED IT.
I get so tense and frustrated when I read Abby Cooper's thinking and motions to work out a mystery. Of course, that is part of the charm of her personality. She keeps me from putting down my so I can get some sleep.
I can just picture that judge she outed in court due to her own frustration at his disrespect towards her. I figured out the "who done it" earlier than Abby but it was a hunch on my part from what clues were there and not there. I do wonder why V Laurie likes to make Abby so insecure up until the last few pages when she solves the case. I want Abby to get a better backbone.
Btw, I also love to download Professional Narration with the book to listen while I read along. This way I don't have to struggle over difficult names or specialty words. Also, it lets me take my glasses off without my having to stop the book narration.
Victoria Laurie is one of my favorite authors and I'm always thrilled when another psychic eye book comes out. This one was as good as all of the previous in this series but even more poignant with the main theme being the exoneration of a mother wrongfully convicted of her own son's murder. With execution just around the corner the entire book had the need to not stop until a wrong was righted. As a reader I couldn't put away the book. If you've read the psychic eye series you know what I'm talking about when I say the characters and their relationships continue to make the story flow effortlessly. If you didn't start at the beginning of the series you are missing out. The prior books build the characters so well it makes them seem like you know them! I just can't wait to see where their lives go .... Keep writing Victoria Laurie!! I'm a displaced Texan who likes reading a tale based in the state I grew up in (even if I'm not an Austin fan as an Aggie from College Station must be)!! Can't wait to see how Abby and Dutch will proceed through life .... Will there be children or will Eggy and Tuttle be their main loves? Thanks for a great summer read - as a teacher it's the best gift!! Keep up the good work. You have a wonderful way with weaving a story that is always fascinating and compelling!
Fantastic story but a little darker than normal. There were moments of humor but the overall bent of the story was on the darker side. The story opens with Abby getting dragged to jail for outing a judge and being charged with contempt of court. To make matters worse, she was thrown into the cell with Skylar, a death row inmate on her last appeal for murdering her nine year old son. Abby figures out that Skylar is innocent and decides to help prove that come what may. The challenge was not easy and even if she managed to prove it, there was no guarantee they could stop the "execution". The story is fraught with nail-biting drama, cops & attorneys who took the easy way out and didn't look to hard at the evidence that didn't fit, nasty family members, and the normal gang trying to make things right. Abby, Candice, Dutch, and Oscar all work to help Abby prove someone one than Skylar did the deed. The story brings to light everyone's fear that they'll be wrongly convicted and no one will believe they didn't commit the crime. Abby doesn't give up until she has the answers she's looking for. Great story but I hope the next one is more upbeat.
Victoria Laurie does it again. From the first page she steps on the gas, takes the reader for a wild ride and doesn't stop until the last word. I've adored all her books but one (Vision Impossible, but I'm just not into spy stuff and it was still really well written), but I do believe Sense of Deception is my favorite. She has outdone herself this time. The mystery is interesting and exciting, the subtle touches with Abby's dogs are moving, and the resolution is satisfying. Abby is becoming even more of as spitfire, really coming into her own as an investigator and a fully realized character. I wholeheartedly recommend this series, especially this book. I enjoyed every page and it kept me on the edge of my seat.
